Why Free Flight? – Our Mission

Here at Free Flight we understand what it is like caring for someone, how both rewarding and strenuous it can be.

We also understand what it is like being on the receiving end of that care, and how dehumanising and limiting it can feel.

Free Flight was started with this understanding at its heart. With a focus on both those giving and receiving the care. Ensuring the needs of those being supported are heard, and understood while ensuring the informal supports (family, friends, partners) feel respected and supported.

Regardless of what support you need or why, it is important to feel like you can stretch your wings and fly.

That very corny message leads us to why we are called Free Flight Health Services.

Definition

Free Flight: The act of teaching a hand raised or rehabilitated bird to fly freely in the wild, while learning the skills to recognise natural dangers, and return safely. Allowing these otherwise caged birds to experience life like other birds.

Our goal is based around this definition, to support you to live life like anyone else and be free of your cage. We treat all our services as they should be – capacity building supports to increase your and your carers independence.
